The 5 coolest (and most outrageous) pools we built in The Sims 4

It’s a pretty good week to be a Sim. Pools have been added for free to The Sims 4, and they’re cooler (and weirder) than they’ve ever been. How weird? How cool? We snuck over to Maxis’ lair to experiment and see exactly how creative we could get.

The results were, well… you’ll need to see them to believe them.

Semi-lazy River. Ever go swimming and then immediately decide you need a sandwich straight away? It’s terrible. You need to get out of the pool, and it’s cold, and you have to walk around while soaking wet, and… yeah. Wouldn’t it be better if you could just swim from the pool to the kitchen? We thought so too! The Sims of this house ended up using this pool as a sort of highway, jumping in and swimming from room to room instead of walking because, let’s be honest – walking is for chumps.

The Origin(al) Pool. Try as we might, we haven’t been able to convince our bosses to let us build an pool in the shape of an Origin logo on the Electronic Arts campus. Something about it being “an absolutely preposterous idea that no one in their right mind would think is worthwhile.” Well, bosses, take a look at THIS pool and tell us it isn’t awesome!

Pool House 2.0. Pool House is simple. Make one giant square pool, attach all of your rooms to it so your Sims need to swim to get between any two rooms, and you’re done! Your Sims will exercise every time they wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Just make sure you put the dining room table near the kitchen – Sims can’t bring food with them in the pool. We learned that the hard way. Rather, the eight Sims that died in Pool House 1.0 learned that the hard way. Those poor, poor souls.

The Fish Tank. Fun fact: you can replace all of the walls of your pool with windows. Why? Because it’s super cool! It’s like all of your Sims are swimming in a giant fish tank. We made this one two stories tall, and then added a balcony above the entire thing for people to lounge on. It’s super swanky, and shows all of the other Sims in the neighborhood that you Sims are really confident in their bodies.

Gnome Man’s Land. Why did we put a garden gnome on an island in the middle of a pool? Because we thought of the pun “Gnome Man’s Land” and had to work backwards to actually think of the concept. Obviously.

Pools are now available for all The Sims 4 players, and the update is totally free! Just pick up The Sims 4 if you haven’t already and you’re ready to start making your own pools. Mix this with the last free update, which added Star Wars costumes and ghosts, and… well, we’ll let you figure out how pools and ghosts are connected. Let’s just say that Sims don’t take kindly to having walls block them from getting out of the water. They don’t like it at all.
